DOES PWI ACCEPT AND PUBLISH UNSOLICITED MANUSCRIPTS/STORIES?

Generally speaking, no. We have a stable of freelance writers that we use regularly. We generate ideas for features and columns as a staff and then assign them to freelancers. We do, however, add new writers to our staff when the need arises. And while it is important, obviously, for potential PWI writers to be wrestling fans, they must be, first and foremost, excellent writers. Therefore, if you have no professional writing experience or writing skills, but you have the history of every WWE and NWA title committed to memory and can recite the results of every match in WrestleMania history in order, you are not a serious candidate to be a writer for PWI. For serious inquiries about freelance opportunities at PWI, e-mail Publisher Stu Saks at londonpub@kappapublishing.com. Be prepared to send a resume and writing samples.

WHO SHOULD I CONTACT IF I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT MY SUBSCRIPTION?

You can either call 815-734-1212, write to: London Publishing Co., P.O. Box 2029, Dept. 9, Marion, OH 43306-8185, or send an e-mail to customerservice@kappapublishing.com.

ARE PHOTOS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE?

We do not sell photos to the public. Under certain circumstances, we can license them for editorial usage. If you are a member of the media seeking current WWE photos, you should contact WWE directly.

HOW CAN I GET NEWS ITEMS INCLUDED IN YOUR VARIOUS MAGAZINES?

The information we receive will be utilized in our news columns and on our "PWI Hotline". When sending information as an e-mail, please do not send it as an attached file. If you must send it as an attached file, please save it in a universal text file. We use a Macintosh platform for our editorial needs and some IBM-compatible programs are unreadable with our word processing program. If we can't translate the information, we can't use it.

WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO BE INCLUDED IN "ARENA REPORTS" AND "RATINGS"?

The "Arena Reports" section of Pro Wrestling Illustrated is complied on a daily basis from the e-mails we receive. Please note that there is a very limited amount of space in the magazine that is dedicated to these reports, so we must limit the number of reports that are used for each promotion. Please do not send results through U.S. mail as they will be disregarded. We also may disregard any report sent in all capital letters, all lower case letters, or in a format that is difficult to decipher. If possible, we would also like to receive the information in the style used for "Arena Reports", with details listed after the initial match results.

WHAT IS THE BEST FORMAT TO USE WHEN SENDING RESULTS?

For each result, we need the date, town, state, promotion name, and building where the card was held, quick match results [example: Wrestler A pinned Wrestler B] as well as all relevant information. We prefer to have the outcome of the match listed in the first sentence of a detailed match description. Please include any title changes, injuries, and angle information. Just always remember, if we can't read it, we can't report it. Using all capital letters, no capital letters, misspellings, abbreviations, run-on sentences, etc. are all reasons for us to not include the item.

WHAT IS THE BEST FORMAT TO USE WHEN SENDING RATINGS?

Please include the heavyweight champion plus the top 10 contenders. We need the weight and hometown for each ranked wrestler. For the sake of timeliness, the placement of the ratings is determined by whatever magazine we are producing when we receive them.

WHAT IS THE BEST FORMAT TO USE WHEN SUBMITTING REPORTS TO THE "CORRESPONDENT REPORTS" SECTION:

Please include a detailed account of a featured match, any relevant photos from the match or of the participants, and also the complete card. Also include the town, building, promotion, and the correspondent's name. If you would like to send a photo for the report, it must be a full-color, in-focus, printed action photo of the highlighted match to go with the "Correspondent Report".

I’M A PHOTOGRAPHER AND WOULD LIKE TO SUBMIT PHOTOS?

--Professional-quality, full-color printed or slide photographs (both action and posed) taken with a regular film camera are preferred. Photos must also be printed by a professional photo processing place. Do not send us photos that have been printed from a home computer/printer.

--Electronic images should be at least 2500x2500 pixels or at least 5x7 inches at 300 dpi will also be accepted. Electronic images files should also identify the subject of the image. Please keep in mind that most commercial digital cameras can not produce the quality of photo that we need.

--Action shots should be taken from the ring apron and in focus. All photos must be clearly identified.

--We also no longer accept black and white photos because of our full-color format.

DO YOU SEND PHOTOGRAPHERS TO INDEPENDENT WRESTLING SHOWS?

We rarely send photographers to independent events, which is why we ask promotions to assist with submitting photographs. If we do send a photographer, the promoter will be notified by Lisa Rocchi that a certain photographer has been assigned to the show. That photographer should also have a copy of the correspondence between Lisa and the promoter to verify their assignment. The promoter will also be given a contact number in case of problems or concerns. If you are not contacted by Lisa, the photographer is not shooting the show for us and we most likely will not receive the photos. People misrepresenting themselves as PWI photographers has become a concern for us. This unauthorized use of our name for credentials only deceives promoters and wrestlers and ultimately effects the positive work that we try to do here at PWI.
