JUNE 1987

Cover Story: It had to be one of the most emotional stories PWI ever published, and it was also one of the least complicated. Less than four months after getting into a car accident that ended his wrestling career and nearly left him paralyzed, Magnum T.A., still recovering in the hospital, asked for an opportunity to write a thank you note to all the people who sent him letters, made phone calls to him, and prayed for him. He wouldn’t have made it without them, he insisted. We proudly gave him that forum. He wrote extensively about the wonderful friendship with Nikita Koloff, once his blood enemy, that was born out of this terrible accident. It was all truly inspiring to everyone.

Eye-Catcher: A sad time for wrestling, a coup for PWI.
